(For the textbox to appear, you must click "Submit Assignment" in the upper right hand corner.)

This Credit Unit Assessment will consist of a speech that you will give for your Proctor and an audience (5 or more people) that you have gathered. It will be up to you to find your own audience and you must have a minimum of five people in your audience. There is no maximum audience size. Before beginning your speech, you must have someone show the audience before you begin speaking so that your Proctor can view the audience. During the speech, the film angle should be such that the tops of the heads of your audience can be seen as well as the speaker. If that is not possible, at the conclusion of the speech the audience must also be filmed.

You are required to pass this Credit Unit Assessment with a 75% or above and will have 2 attempts to do so; however, do your best the first time as failing a Credit Unit Assessment twice will result in failing the course. Once you have submitted your initial attempt, DO NOT attempt the Credit Unit Assessment again unless instructed to do so by your Navigator.

Review for Your Credit Unit Assessment

Your final Credit Unit Assessment will be to give a presentation on the problem that you have been working on in Modules 2-4.

The purpose your problem-solution speech is to examine a problem, the causes, and explore the best solution. In this speech you are not only helping your audience understand the problem and its causes, you are also helping them to see why the solution you chose is the best and how the solution will be implemented.

Organizing your speech:

Based on the outline you created in CU3 M2, 3, and 4 you will organize and deliver an 8-10 minute speech. Please see the rubric (Google Doc) for the grading criteria for this Credit Unit Assessment.

The introduction of your speech should get your audience’s attention, identify the problem and the solution, establish your credibility, and preview the main points that you will be covering in your speech.

The body of your speech contains your main points: the three solutions you researched and the best solution and its benefits.

The conclusion of the speech restates the best solution and provides closure for the audience in terms of a plan for how the solution will be implemented.

Be sure to include transition statements between main points and cited sources of the evidence you present. You organized speech may be presented in the following order:
